Is ProtonMail a good E-Mail service?

What do you think about the criticism regarding ProtonMail from privacytoolslist.com 5? Is he right in saying that Proton is a “privacy joke” and that they use “hot descriptions about encryption to mislead you and control your data”? I’m still new to this whole privacy topic, so I wanted to know how more experienced people view it. Sorry for my bad english!
