For clarity: In this case "namesake" refers to a stranger I happen to share a name with.

So I have a gmail account that is \[MylegalfirstnameMylegalsurname\]@gmail.com. It's not a common name, but getting this email was still a score as I secured it just as people were starting to realize that they should have professional-sounding email addresses to conduct business. The problem is that some years ago I started getting some emails here and there for \[Mylegalfirstname.Mylegalsurname\]@gmail.com.
