Deepfakes and synthetic data, and how they impact biometric systems was the focus of the Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory Annual Workshop 2024, hosted by the EAB last week.
Presentations discussed benefits, challenges, and security threats to facial recognition from synthetic data.
Sascha Frühholz of the University of Oslo presented ongoing research being conducted in partnership with several other scientists under the title: “Human Cognitive and Neural Mechanisms for Identity Recognition in Synthetic Faces.”
