Context:
When returning a gift without the receipt I was told they would need my driver's license to do so, there was a long lineup behind me and the cashier + manager (whom the cashier called over to authorize the return, I didn't ask for the manager) staring me down, so I got flustered and just handed it over - regretting it immediately but also didn't want to make a scene by taking it back.
