good phones

hi all, I don't like the fact that my phone (an older Samsung galaxy) is so in bed with google but I'm not a fan of apple either, think both are too big for their own good. Are there any platforms out there which allow for 4g, calling, getting about using maps and running brave and whatsapp without seemingly being a bottomless data hole, alternatively any advice for booting google off my current phone would be welcome
