Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age www.reddit.com

My dad called me today after his employer wanted to know who is phone carrier was for his personal cell phone. He deferred answering and was wondering why they would want to have this information. He already has his company's app on his phone for punching in and out of work. Would providing his cell phone carrier to his employer compromise his privacy any more than it already is?
