Do you need to add IOC's when you have Defender for Endpoint?

We have Defender for Endpoint across the organization. We have this from the Microsoft Business Premium Licenses we have. Do you need to add IOC's to defender? What is the benefit? Will not defender handle this based on IOC's it already has?

Just a noob question from me! Appreciate any answers to this.
