Do I have to worry about my photos ending up in some database (or similar)?

(So sorry if I’m using the wrong tag, I wasn’t sure what to use!!)

I hate to air this out on the internet, but I have some certain intimate photos on my phone, and I overheard two friends in a conversation talking about “how creepy it was that when you allow an app access to all of your photos, they can upload all of your photos and do whatever they want with that data”.
