apparently someone hacked into my email and did nothing with it?

I checked my email today and found out that someone logged into my account from a device i don't know 2 days ago. I already changed my password, etc. But the thing is... Whoever logged into my account did absolutely nothing with it and that's scaring me more than if they had actually tried to do something. They didn't try getting into my bank account or anything of the sort, in fact they didn't even try to change the password …
