App Sec vs Secure Coding SWE

I'm a cross-roads. Currently a security engineer and started implementing app sec program at my company only to have mgmt decide that that was a SWE-responsibility.

Long story short, I am being offered a pivot to SWE (I did a 6 month dev contract prior to the security role so foundation is there) and if I do so, I can continue the app sec work from that team.
